In my workshop I demonstrate the complete method of mixing and using henna which is described in my booklet.
The session runs for 2 hours and covers
Introduction - Uses and characteristics of henna powder
Basic mix - Demonstration of mixing and preparing the paste
Cones - Constructing cone applicators and filling with paste
Application - Using the paste to apply designs. We begin by practising on paper. Participants may use their own designs or copy from my own pattern sheets
Painting on skin - All the remaining details and tips on applying paste to skin and how to care for the resulting designs.
The course is suitable for 6 - 12 participants. No experience is necessary but some drawing ability may be an advantage.
My charge is $35.00 per person. This is what I charge to come to your home and conduct a workshop, there will be different charges for community facilities depending on the venue. I supply all the materials and ingredients to make one cone of paste for each person. Each person also receives a copy of my booklet as teaching notes, and some design sheets.
Due to the flexible nature of at home arrangements I will require a 50% deposit one week before the agreed date of the workshop. The workshop is a fairly intense two hours of information delivery and is not suitable for young children. Concentration is needed, and as much as I love them, small children are a distraction. Children of age 8+ may join in but will be charged the full rate.
Venue requirements - Part of the process requires 10 minutes of cooking on a stove top, the rest of the session will be spent seated working at tables.
The workshop will appeal to those with an interest in alternative methods of body adornment who may be interested in learning the skills for personal use, or for fun with family and friends.
The artform is particularly loved by bellydancers and would be an excellent addition to bellydance classes.
HENNA BUSINESS
The workshop is also very suitable for anyone wishing to set up a small business, as henna painting is a portable, adaptable and popular artform. It is inexpensive to set up, easy to operate, and requires a minimum cash flow to maintain.
I often receive requests from people wishing to start their own henna business asking if they can "pick my brains".
While I am happy to consult with you online about setting up a business, please understand that my time is precious and my knowledge base has been gained through years of hard work and personal experience.
I do not offer access to either for free, a consultation fee will apply.
A knowledge of henna method will also be a useful adjunct to the repertoire of the beauty practitioner.
