ABOUT THE CAFE

Welcome to the new look for 2007

This is a virtual cafe. I have created it in order to serve up my own visual smorgasbord of Goddess-inspired goodies to the world. There are pages on henna art, five new print galleries on the Lightspirit studio page featuring compositions based on my original photographs, as well as some interesting mosaic and pyrographic work in the art showcase page. I now have Paypal shopping carts enabled on the henna kits page and the five gallery pages. The shopping cart link can be found toward the right at the bottom of the pages

I hope you will enjoy partaking of this feast.

ABOUT THE GODDESS

The earliest deities were Goddesses. In antiquity every culture paid homage to Her in Her many forms. Goddess ideology was inclusive (not exclusive like many modern religions). The way of the Goddess was co-operative rather than competitive. She was a vital force, ever present and available to anyone at anytime. Every woman was respected as the Goddess incarnate. The earth too was respected as the Mother of us all. Goddess worship was a joyous celebration of the sensuality of being. She presided over the great cycles of birth life and death. Everything came from Her and returned to Her.

But over time, Her influence in the world was subverted by groups whose philosophy was to exercise power over, rather than celebrating the power within. With a zeal that was vicious and relentless, these groups set about obliterating all traces of Goddess worship. Her holy places were destroyed and Her stories perverted. Her adherents were branded as heretics and met violent deaths. The world entered a dark age where fear and guilt became the currency of religion, and women and men were set against themselves and each other.

In the recent past, many groups and individuals have been trying to undo this damage by reclaiming our lost Goddess heritage. Thanks to the work of people like Robert Graves, Barbara Walker, Merlin Stone, Rian Eisler and many others, we are now beginning to understand what has been suppressed for the last two thousand years. With this potent information in our charge, we can redress the balance, and reclaim the dignity and the power which is our birthright.

THANK YOU

This site was originally created by my dear friend Marc Tracey who has since departed this life. I will be eternally grateful to him for translating my artistic endeavours into a machine friendly format. Vale Marc, I miss you and I want you to know that at last I have learned to do my own updates.

Thank you to my patient partner Roland Seidel for cheerfully assisting me in the monumental task of becoming computer literate.
