The paste is painted onto the skin with a
cone applicator. The paste is a black colour but when it is removed it gives a
dark red/brown stain (see below). I NEVER use "black" henna and would
caution everybody to stay away from such a product as it can cause severe and
long lasting skin damage. The natural colour of henna is red/ brown. To make it
black, unscrupulous people will add a chemical which is very toxic. Pure henna
is very safe to use, but only in the hands of a trustworthy practitioner, or
better still, learn how to do your own
I
have a large
range of designs including traditional Indian, tribal and esoteric
motifs. My strong background in symbology and ritual is very useful for this work.

The Henna paste stays
on the skin for five hours, and is then removed to reveal a dark brown natural stain which
lasts up to 2 weeks.
